Reasons Why Roosevelt Introduced the New Deal There were three main reasons why Roosevelt introduced the New Deal. The first was economic and social problems in the USA, as a result of the Wall Street Crash. The second reason was because of Hoover, the president before Roosevelt; had been a weak president, and could not solve problems, and often made problems worse. The third was that Roosevelt strongly believed he could help America recover, like he himself has done when he caught polio. One of the reasons why he introduced the New Deal was because of the problems in the USA. The Wall Street Crash in 1929 affected the USA both socially and economically. This sparked off the Great Depression.†¦show more content†¦Another reason why he introduced the New Deal was because of Hoover. Hoover was a weak president, and couldnt deal with Americas problems. He tried to solve this problem with protective tariffs (putting taxes on imported goods), but this was unsuccessful and made problems worse. He also tried introducing a Welfare State, but not many people agreed with this, because a welfare state runs off workers taxes, and employment was so low that not enough tax was being paid, meaning there would be no money for Hoovers Welfare State. Hoover also tried to promote the employers give-a-job scheme. This was where employers were encouraged to give jobs to unemployed people, instead of the government funding new jobs. This scheme failed as well. He also tried the trickle-down effect, where Hoover would boost one industry with money and jobs to higher production. He hoped by doing this other companies would follow on and create higher production, however this scheme failed. Hoover had a lot of ideas, and did want to help America, but proved too weak to. My players were off, everyone randeep or at least father than they had to; all we needed was one completion. That is when I did it; I threw the ball to Kyle Kaneshiro. Yes! We had afirst down and Kyle, a typical nerd with glasses came back to the huddle witha huge smile. I dont think he ever thought hed really be getting the balltoday, but I gave it to him and he came through. The game went on, although itwas very one sided. My diverse squad, that ranged from speedy black guys likeMelvin to slower guys like Kyle had wrecked shop on the opposition. As the bell rang and the teachers called us back into the building, Kylecame up to me and thanked me for letting him play. He told me that he hadalways wanted to participate, but had always been afraid of the cooler guys. I told him that was a bunch of crap and from that day on Kyle was on my team. He was my secret weapon, my third down back who never dropped the ball. After leaving Bel Air Elementary that year and moving up to GodwinMiddle; we had to get used to not having recess anymore. No more school yardfootball to keep us happy, but Godwin did have a school team. I tried out andso did Melvin; we didnt play much because the older guys where better than us. But when we got the chance as we grew up we always looked back on what we hadlearned on the field at Bel Air. We used the whole team to make ourselves better,and when push came to shove, we didnt go with the big studs like Kofi andSherman we went to guys like Kyle. They were the guys that really made thedifference, the ones who helped keep a team together, and the ones that made ourteams win.
